T.S.S.M. Senior Sec. School, established in the memory of Comrade Teja Singh, who played an invaluable role in the struggle for freedom, is progressing by leaps and bounds not only in the field of education but also in sports and cultural activities. It is working under a registered organization. It was established in 1977 with the idea of quality education. It reached up to matriculation in 1986 and later raised up to 10+2 in 1995.

Biography

The great patriot comrade Teja Singh Sutantar was born on 16th July 1901 at Akalgarh Aluna, Post office Hardochani, in the district of Gurdaspur. His father’s name was S. Kirpal Singh. Comrade Sutantar’s first name was Smund Singh. From the very childhood, he had a sharp intellect. He learnt Punjabi, Persian and Sanskrit during his school time. He passed the 10th class from Missionary High School, Dhariwal. After passing Giani in 1919, he joined the Khalsa College, Amritsar. On 13th April 1919 when the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre took place, he flew into rage and joined the Gurdwara Sudhar Movement. In 1921, Teja Singh Sutantar succeeded in freeing the Gurdwara Tej Wheela from the clutches of the mahantas in a very peaceful manner.

This piece of writing is going to talk about a man whose entire life has been dedicated to only one single purpose i.e ‘the upliftment of Education’. A devoted teacher, a wonderful principal, a leader to many. What a truly extraordinary life honourable S. Gurbachan Singh Grewal ji had who departed peacefully for his heavenly abode on 21st April, 2021. He was a man to look up to, someone to follow, someone to admire, someone to proud of and someone to brag about.
